The concrete, asphalt and block from the old site was dug up and pulverized onsite into class two base rock. Topsoil was scraped and piled for later reuse in drought-tolerant landscaping. Even some tall trees that had to be felled were kept to become playground benches. Reclaimed wood from the old school building became a resource, along with the purchase of wood products from renewable forest suppliers. Roof decking from the old buildings was used for the new wood slat ceiling, and recycled redwood and Douglas Fir were used for interior paneling, siding and sunscreens. We even day lighted and restored and old creek through the site.
This $20 million dollar LEED Platinum Target Certified project was completed in the 2008 - 2009 calendar year.
