SAN JOSE - Toeniskoetter & Breeding has added three additional honors to its growing list of recognitions, for fastest growth, excellence in property management and dedicated community service. The company as a whole was named the 12th fastest-growing private company in the Silicon Valley in the Silicon Valley/San Jose Business Journal’s 2002 survey. The companies in the list are ranked over a two-period, and TBI’s revenue of $97.57 million in 2001 was an increase of 202.23% over the period two years earlier. For the fourth consecutive year, TBI Property Management won an award from the Building Owners & Managers Association (BOMA) for building management. The Silicon Valley Chapter found Campbell Gateway Square in Campbell, a mixed-use office and retail project, to be best in the category of medical office building. Most recently, The San Jose/Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce named CEO Chuck Toeniskoetter winner of the 2002 Community Leadership Award. The award is the Chamber’s highest honor for community service, and it was presented at a dinner attended by 700 people and featuring former First Lady Barbara Bush as keynote speaker. The latest awards follow the company’s winning two coveted “Golden Nail Awards” for historical restorations and remodeling in downtown San Jose. The San Jose Downtown Association selected two TBI Construction projects for the Golden Nail Awards, honoring restoration and remodeling of the Metropole Hotel at 325 S. Market St. and the old Alcatera Hotel behind it and restoration of the First Unitarian Church east of St. James Park. Soon afterward, the Association of Briefing Program Managers named the Hewlett-Packard Executive Briefing Center in Cupertino, which TBI constructed, winner of the 2002 trophy for best new or renovated center in the United States. Earlier honors and recognition include: • Cochrane Road Self-Storage - Business of the Year from the Morgan Hill Chamber of Commerce for this business developed and co-owned by TBI Development and located in TBI’s Cochrane Business Ranch. The award was based on the company’s and its employees’ contributions to the community. • Construction Link List - Toeniskoetter & Breeding, Inc. made the list of the 50 largest construction companies in California, placing 39th based on volume. • Book of Lists - TBI earned five entries in the 2002 Book of Lists compiled by the Silicon Valley Business Journal: Largest Commercial General Contractors, Largest Family-Owned Businesses, Largest Office Parks, Largest Private Companies and Fastest Growing Private Companies. Sheila Breeding, Chief Financial Officer and TBI co-founder, was named “2002 Woman of Achievement” in the category of small business by the Silicon Valley Women’s Foundation. She was honored for her work in business, her contributions to the community and for serving as a role model for young women. Both Chuck Toeniskoetter and Executive Vice President Dan Breeding have been named to significant positions. Toeniskoetter was elected to the Board of Directors of Heritage Commerce Corporation, holding company for Heritage Bank of Commerce and Bank of Los Altos, and Breeding was elected employer trustee for the Construction Laborers Union Trust Fund.
