TOENISKOETTER & BREEDING REMODELING BUILDINGS WHERE RED HERRINGS, IPOs DRAFTED, PRINTED
August 18, 2000

PALO ALTO -- Toeniskoetter & Breeding, Inc. (TBI) Construction is expanding and remodeling the Stanford Research Park offices of Chicago-based R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co., which prints legal documents associated with creation and funding of Silicon Valley companies.

While Chicago-based Donnelley is the nation's leading commercial printer, it is also a leading information services company. Not only do its Silicon Valley offices contain state-of-the-art telecommunications capabilities, 80% of the floor space has little to do with actual printing. It is devoted, instead, to conference rooms and offices where attorneys, investment bankers, accountants and their clients create frameworks for business formations and disclosure documents for public offerings of stock.

Upon completion, R. R. Donnelley Financial Services will have 17,500 square feet of space in two, one-story buildings at 855 California Ave., according to TBI Vice President Dave Musgrave. One building contains a café, and the eating area in the second building will resemble a sports bar.

"We are modifying the buildings to meet the needs of the growing high-technology financial community centered in Palo Alto," Musgrave said. "The project involves both adding space and making better use of existing space. The location on California Avenue is extremely convenient for the law firms that work with startup and growth companies based in Silicon Valley."
The design is by Space architects of Seattle.

Toeniskoetter & Breeding Construction has built many of the upscale law offices whose attorneys spend time at Donnelley Financial Services, as well as venture capital, investment banking and other professional firms in Palo Alto and Menlo Park. Work is currently underway on law offices for Simpson, Thatcher & Bartlett at 3330 Hillview Ave. and Oppenheimer Wolff & Donnelly at 1400 Page Mill Road. Recent law office projects include Morrison & Foerster at 755 Page Mill Road and Fenwick & West LLP in Building 2 at Palo Alto Square, and TBI Construction has built offices in eight buildings in Palo Alto for Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati.

Founded in 1983, San Jose-based TBI Construction has completed more than $400 million in projects throughout the Bay Area. In addition to high-end professional offices, the company specializes in historical restoration and renovation, religious institutions, Multiple Prime Construction Management for public agencies and new buildings for TBI's own portfolio and for others.
