TBI Energy is providing engineering and design services along with rebate management, budgeting, ROI and payback analysis for this project which is projected to save significant resources while reducing the facility’s carbon footprint and release of harmful pollutants. Rebates how now been approved, equipment ordered and completion expected before the end of 2010.
Project consists of:
- POOL PUMP VFD (variable frequency drive)
- Annual savings from VFD 120,994 KWhour: $20,000
- Cost of measure: $23,140
- Rebate for measure: $11,489
- Net cost of measure: $11,651
- ROI: 171% Simple payback: 7 months
- New Low NOx Pool Heater
- New, condensing boiler (96% efficient)
- Annual Fuel Savings : 26,948 therms - $14,456
- Cost of measure: $61,295
- Rebate for measure: $6041
- Net cost of measure: $55,254
- ROI : 25% simple payback = 4 years
Note: BAAQMD regulations require action regarding old, high NOx boilers starting January 1st, 2011…..all boilers must be retrofitted or retired by end of 2012. Condensing boilers are low NOx by design.
- Solar Pool Heater Assist
- Usable rooftop of pool pump house is 1800 sq.ft.
- Heating season for unglazed is April – October
- 4X10 collector averages ˝ therms/day
- Each unglazed collector generates approximately 105 therms/year
- 36 collectors would provide at least 10% solar fraction, assuming new, efficient boiler is in place.
- There are no rebates for solar pool heaters
- Cost of measure: $36,000
- Annual savings from measure = $4,158
- ROI - $4,158/$36,000 = 11.5% Simple payback = 8.66years
